We’re entering week 3 of the 2018 League of Legends competitive season, and the effects of all the pre-season roster and game changes are starting to be felt around the world. Titans are falling left and right, and new teams are rising to the top.
On the basis of what we’ve learned so far, here are our predictions for week 3:
EU LCS Spring 2018 Group Stage – Week 3 Predictions
Unicorns of Love vs H2K
These two teams are sitting at the bottom of the leaderboard right now, with a 0W-4L and a 1W-3L record respectively. H2K are still a significantly better team than UOL (as their victory against Fnatic has proved) and will win this match almost for sure.
Giants Gaming vs Team ROCCAT
Both of these teams have a 3W-1L record so far and are of roughly the same strength, so the result could easily go either way in this dispute.
FC Schalke 04 Esports vs Team Vitality
This will be another close match, although Team Vitality (3W-1L) have a slight edge over FC Schalke 04 (2W-2L), having defeated both Fnatic and Giants Gaming this season, two very strong teams.
G2 Esports vs Splyce
G2 Esports (1W-3L) are a shadow of their former selves right now, but they should still be able to win this match against Splyce (2W-2L). They’ve been having a teamplay problem so far but being a top team, it’s only a matter of time until they find a success formula with this new roster.
Fnatic vs Misfits
Given that Misfits lost against G2 Esports and that G2 Esports lost against Fnatic in their latest match, we could conclude that Fnatic are likely to win this battle. Another indicator that Fnatic is the stronger team here is the fact that their 2 losses so far were caused by small mistakes and by throws more than anything. The team’s overall strategy looks really strong right now.
Unicorns of Love vs Team Vitality
The 10th placed team vs the 1st placed team. This one should definitely go to Team Vitality.
FC Schalke 04 Esports vs Giants Gaming
Based on the two teams’ previous results, Giants Gaming have a 65-70% chance of winning this dispute. Their only defeat so far came at the hands of Team Vitality (the number 1 team right now on the EU LCS leaderboard), while S04 lost their latest match against Splyce, a relatively weak adversary.
Team ROCCAT vs Fnatic
This will be a close match, but Fnatic have a slight edge. If they manage to beat Misfits, Fnatic will almost surely win this encounter as well. But if they don’t, then the chance of a ROCCAT victory will be quite high, making the bet risky.
H2K vs G2 Esports
Both teams have had a really poor run so far (1W-3L), but G2 Esports are much stronger when playing at their real potential. Their chances of winning this match are around 90%.
Misfits vs Splyce
This should be an easy victory for Misfits.
NA LCS Spring 2018 Group Stage – Week 3 Predictions
Counter Logic Gaming vs Echo Fox
Echo Fox have stunned the League of Legends community with their results this season. They’re record so far is 4W-0L, while CLG’s record is 1W-3L. Subsequently, the result of this match will almost surely be a victory in Echo Fox’s favor.
Cloud9 vs OpTic Gaming
This should be an easy match for Cloud9. They’ve only lost against Echo Fox so far and have performed really well in all of their games (3W-1L record), while their opponents are at the other end of the spectrum, with a 1W-3L record.
Clutch Gaming vs 100 Thieves
100 Thieves (3W-1L) are a super strong team at the moment, so Clutch Gaming (2W-2L) don’t have much of a chance against them. In their latest match, 100 Thieves beat Team Liquid in an absolute demonstration of skill.
FlyQuest vs Team Liquid
Team Liquid (3W-1L) have an 80% chance of taking this one. Doublelift and his teammates have played very well so far, so it’s unlikely that a team such as FlyQuest (2W-2L) can beat them at the moment.
Team SoloMid vs Golden Guardians
On the leaderboard they’re pretty close to each other (1W-3L for TSM and 0W-4L for GGS). But when you put things in context and take into account TSM’s roster and past achievements, this match should be an easy win for them.
Echo Fox vs Optic Gaming
Echo Fox are a much better team than Optic Gaming for the time being, so a victory in their favor is the most likely outcome of this encounter.
Team SoloMid vs 100 Thieves
Considering how well 100 Thieves played in their match against Team Liquid (which they won) and how poorly TMS played in their own match against the same team (which they lost), it’s hard to give TSM a chance here. However, you should follow these teams’ first matches and see how they perform before making a decision with regard to their second match of the week.
Golden Guardians vs Team Liquid
This will almost surely be a one-sided affair and a clear Team Liquid victory.
Clutch Gaming vs Cloud9
This match is risky and could go either way, so you should probably stay away from it.
Counter Logic Gaming vs FlyQuest
FlyQuest are slightly better, but the chance of an upset is still high.
